Welcome to Reception

History Week

Reception class have enjoyed learning Nursery Rhymes and finding out the history behind them.

The children thought that Humpty Dumpty was an egg and they decorated eggs. However we found out that Humpty Dumpty may have been a huge cannon that King Charles I fired at the Siege of Gloucester. They had great fun re-enacting the Siege.

We had a Grand Old Duke of York Day, learning all about him, with plenty of marching up and down to the music.

Did you know that Doctor Foster was probably King Edward I when he fell off his horse into a piddle (stream) and never came back again.

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning different nursery rhymes throughout the week.
