Our Family Intervention Team

Based in "The Hub", our Family Intervention Team are an integral part of our school community. We strongly believe in the essential partnership between parents, school and the wider community, with our children being at the centre of this.

Our integrated Family Intervention Team are there to support children in overcoming and removing any barriers to learning that they might have. This is to ensure that there is not only continuity in our children's education, but also that strong relationships are built with families over time. They are also there to support children and their families through the ups and downs of life. We have a purpose built nurture space which is designed to be a "home from home", where children can feel safe and share their feelings and experiences.

Our highly trained team provide targeted group support in areas such as anxiety, life skills and communication and behaviour support. Where needed, they also provide 1:1 interventions and for specific children who may need it, run a breakfast nurture group, to ensure that all of our children have the best possible start to their day and transition well into school.

Ultimately, the purpose of this team is to help children build their resilience, use their own voices and be independent - preparing them for the next step in life.

We operate an open-door policy with teachers and the Hub team, so please do not hestitate to contact us, if you feel your child is in need of some extra support.

ELSA

ELSAs are Emotional Literacy Support Assistants, who are a specialist, with a wealth of experience of working with children. ELSAs are trained and regularly supervised by Educational Psychologists. We are lucky enough to have an ELSA on our Family Intervention team, who works with children who need it the most through our in-house referral system between teachers, parents and the nurture team.

An ELSA is a warm and caring person who wants to help your child feel happy in school and to reach their potential educationally. As part of the team around the child, their aim is to help build your child's emotional development and help them cope with life's challenges. ELSAs help children to recognise and manage their feelings and express these in positive ways; they also help children to develop coping strategies and alongside the classroom staff and parents, work in partnership to help to support the whole child.
